Commissioners provide workshops at Rally 2006. License agreement signed authorizing the Commission to use the Alliance’s name in its tagline, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. |

Commission meets to refine the application for accreditation, establish the details of the accreditation review process, continue work on organizational policies and start the development of a long-term communications plan. |

Cooperative agreement with the Alliance finalized clarifying the roles of each organization and the working relationships. Commissioners review first draft of application for accreditation. |

Land Trust Alliance board of directors approved bylaws and articles of incorporation for the new 509(a)(3) subsidiary organization, appointed the first slate of commissioners and approved the name of the new entity. |

| September 2005 | Land Trust Alliance board approves the creation of a voluntary land trust accreditation program to be managed by a commission incorporated as a subsidiary of the Alliance. Alliance announces the new curriculum based on Land Trust Standards and Practices to support land trusts in pursuit of accreditation. |
| July-August 2005 | Alliance staff and advisors develop accreditation business plan. |
| June 2005 | Steering Committee formulates recommendation to Alliance board to create a voluntary accreditation program for land trusts based on land conservationist input. Alliance board approves the development of a business plan for accreditation. |
| March-May 2005 | Land conservationists provide comments on accreditation program design by providing input through focus groups, surveys, conference calls, web dialogue and other venues. |
| February 2005 | Steering Committee reviews survey data and options and creates draft accreditation program design to vet with land conservationists. |
| December 2004 | Land Trust Alliance conducts survey of land conservationists to identify needs and concerns with regard to development of a credentialing process. |
| Fall 2004 | Program Design Steering Committee formed. Members of the Steering Committee conduct interviews at Rally and call a wide variety of land trusts to understand the challenges facing the land trust community. |
