First Pilot Applications Arrive!
Spring seems to have finally arrived in the Northeast and with it another milestone in the accreditation program with the arrival of the first applications for the pilot program. We are really getting to know our mail carriers! The packages have been arriving in all shapes and sizes and we look forward to finally putting the great thinking of those that designed this program into practice.
Lake Champlain Land Trust personally presented their application for accreditation to Executive Director Tammara Van Ryn at the Land Trust Alliance Northeast Land Trust Conference on April 20 in Kerhonkson, New York. "The Lake Champlain Land Trust is pleased to participate in the land trust accreditation program. It's been a great process for our organization. Accreditation will help build even broader support for our work and we are thrilled to be chosen as part of the inaugural pilot program," said Lake Champlain Land Trust Assistant Director Chris Boget. "Lake Champlain's environment has never been so threatened. Demand for our work will only continue to grow, and accreditation will help us better serve our community."
All of the participants in the pilot program have worked hard to put together their applications and we look forward to getting to know each of the groups better through the review process. Read more on the pilot program including the full list of participants.
Now Presenting…the Accreditation Seal
The accreditation seal – available starting in 2008 – will recognize land conservation organizations that meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust and ensure that conservation efforts are permanent. We have developed a fact sheet explaining the significance of the trademarked seal. Download a PDF of the fact sheet.
Public Comment

As part of the application process, the Commission accepts comments from the public on current applicants. Comments must be attributed and relate to how the applicant implements the accreditation indicator practices. Read more or offer a comment on a current applicant.
