Land Conservation Groups Join Growing Number Accredited by Commission

Land Trust Accreditation Commission Announces Accreditation of 14 Land Trust

(May 27, 2009 | Saratoga Springs, NY) – The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance, announced today the accreditation of 14 land trusts from across the country.

“At a time when the public is demanding increasing accountability from nonprofit organizations and government, including land trusts, the new independent accreditation program provides the assurance of quality and permanence of land protection the public is looking for,” said Commission Executive Director Tammara Van Ryn. “Today land trusts can join museums, hospitals, universities and other nonprofit institutions that demonstrate that they deserve the public’s trust through rigorous accreditation programs.”

Twenty-two Land Conservation Organizations Selected for National Accreditation Pilot Program

(February 22, 2007 | Saratoga Springs, NY) – Twenty-two land conservation organizations from 19 states have been selected to test a new national accreditation program. The new land trust accreditation program will recognize land conservation organizations, also known as land trusts, that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever.

Twenty-three Land Conservation Organizations Selected for National Accreditation Pilot Program

(June 5, 2007 | Saratoga Springs, NY) – Twenty-three land conservation organizations from 16 states have been selected to participate in a second round of testing of a new national accreditation program. The program will recognize land conservation organizations, also known as land trusts, that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural places and working lands forever. The nation’s nearly 1,700 land trusts have protected over 11.9 million acres of land.
