Q: How has your organization benefited from being an accredited organization?

A: Accreditation has made us a stronger organization. New board and staff members have found the Commission's guidance documents for the Standards and Practices extremely helpful in understanding the importance behind why we do things a certain way. It helps us ensure that we're doing all we can to live up to the promise of perpetuity.

Q: What did your organization consider before deciding to renew accreditation?

A: We spent the two years before renewing accreditation reviewing our policies and procedures to make sure they were consistent with the revised Standards and Practices. That proved to be really helpful.

A: The new online application portal was really terrific. It kept us organized and made it easy to track progress on our application and collaborate among our accreditation team.

Q: What resources were most helpful as your organization prepared for or was in the renewal process?

A: The Applicant Handbook and Requirements Manual were really helpful during the whole process. The Commission staff were also extremely helpful in answering questions and providing advice.

Q: What has been the biggest success that you attribute to being accredited?

A: We think the biggest success that accreditation has brought us is the level of trust in the organization it evokes in our community. It provides a recognition that we uphold stringent standards and ethics that translate into long-term conservation and community impact.
