MitigationDoes your land trust use mitigation as a conservation tool or are you interested in learning more about how mitigation projects might work for your organization? The National Mitigation & Ecosystem Banking Conference (NMEBC) is hosting their annual event on May 2-6, in Boise, Idaho. The conference brings together key stakeholders to explore policy and practice, share successes and failures, and learn about trends, science and emerging markets. Learn more about NMEBC.

On Tuesday, May 3, Program Manager Greg Good and Commissioner Clint Miller (Central Midwest Regional Director of the accredited Conservation Fund) will be participating on a panel, "Avoiding Regulator and Banker Pitfalls in Collaborating with Accredited Land Trusts." This panel session is designed to facilitate improved alignment of all parties needs associated with mitigation projects including an emphasis on understanding conservation easement provisions required by land trusts and the accreditation requirements.

On the panel, Greg and Clint will be joined by Shauna Marquardt (Field Supervisor at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) and Craig Denisoff (President of Craig Denisoff Consulting) to discuss where there are overlaps and gaps in how land trusts need to comply with the Land Trust Standards and Practices and what the regulators and bankers are seeking. If you're interested in attending, NMEBC has in-person and virtual registration options and a recorded version of the panel will be available after the conference.
